KU APM on TV

At the risk of becoming the "KU APM and KU Warren Buffett Q&A Blog" (which, trust me would be more interesting than the "Tim studying for the CFA Exam Blog"), KUJH, the KU TV station did a story about KU's Applied Portfolio Management class yesterday.

With typical journalistic understatement, the piece is titled "Business Class Quadruples Stock Investment"

KU Buffett Presentation in Forbes

Andy from Armchair Analyst Club alerted me to an article in Forbes about the KU student investment presentation to Warren Buffett.

Andy and I were part of the group that had the opportunity to present an investment to Mr. Buffett in May. Armchair Analyst Club also has a transcript of the KU question and answer session with Warren Buffett.

Rumor has it that BusinessWeek will also be doing a story on the KU presentation.

KU Buffett Proposal in LJ World

This Friday two groups of KU finance students will pitch an investment idea to Warren Buffett. Today the Lawrence Journal World has an article about the trip. The article only gives a small peak at what the presentations are like, but since Buffett occasionally reads the Journal World, I hope the early article didn't blow the surprise of the presentation for the students who have worked to come up with a couple of great presentations.

Last year I was part of a group of 14 students who had the opportunity to propose an idea to Mr. Buffett, it was a great opportunity that I will never forget. While our idea was well researched and a compelling investment idea, and the presentation was, well very creative and original, it wasn't as clever and well polished as the presentation these students will give on Friday.

The opportunity to do a question and answer session with Warren Buffett is a big honor that not many business schools get to do on a regular basis. Many of the top business schools in the country share Q&A sessions with other business schools, so it is a real honor for KU to get two Q&A sessions on its own. Friday should be a lot of fun, and a great learning opportunity, I will make sure to update everyone next Monday.
